Release Notes – empower® Content Enablement 9.10

Main Release (9.10)

New Features & Improvements

  • The File Size Inspector in empower® for PowerPoint has been introduced. This feature can be used to calculate the size of included pictures, with the option to run a picture compression and thereby reduce the overall file size.

The option File Size Inspector can be found under the split button Library.

  • The side pane can be displayed permanently again. If it is displayed permanently, it can be expanded and collapsed any time.

This option can be enabled in the User Settings.

  • The empower® Directory Sync has been improved and now supports the import of extension attributes from Microsoft Entra ID to be used in user profiles.

  • The search functionality for companies and locations has been improved in empower® for Word.

Users can now search for company and location names within the windows Manage Defaults and Fill in Document.

  • A new message in form of a notification bar has been introduced.

If a user opens a presentation which contains outdated translations, the notification bar appears to inform the user.

  • A new message in form of a notification bar has been introduced.

If a user decides to update a locally stored presentation via the Update Wizard, this notification bar informs the user that the locally stored presentation has been closed and the updated presentation has been opened directly from the empower® Library or SharePoint.

  • A new message in form of a dialog box has been introduced for the deletion of elements in the empower® Library.

This dialog box informs users if elements that are part of a translation or update group are included in their selection. In addition, they are informed that deleting those elements may result in the elements being removed from the update or translation group or in the update group being dissolved completely, if one of the elements is a root element.

Users can then decide if they want to delete the selection or not.

  • The robustness of empower® against inconsistent behavior of some other add-ins has been improved.

  • Delays when selecting a large number of objects at once have been reduced.

  • Rich Text Content Controls and Picture Content Controls can now be inserted directly via the Template Assistant, e.g. it is not necessary to use the tab Developer anymore.

Solved Issues

  • Fixed several issues (e.g. profile management could not be opened) caused by a broken connection to the empower® Backend.

  • Fixed an issue where referenced profiles of deleted users caused issues when opening the window Manage Defaults in empower® for Word.

  • Fixed an issue which, in certain cases, caused the compare functionality in the version history to falsely report changes.

  • Fixed an issue where, in certain cases, translations were based on two-letter language codes instead of full language names, resulting in incorrect translations (i.e. regional dialects such as en-GB or en-US were not taken into account).

  • Fixed an issue where, in some cases, links to slides in the same presentation created with the PowerPoint built-in feature would point to the wrong slide after saving the presentation to the empower® Library.

Update #1 (9.10.314)

Solved Issues

  • Fixed an issue which caused unintended behavior of the default language selection for locations if the property had been set to read-only in the EAV data scheme.

This issue could occur in the profile and company management.

  • Fixed an issue which, in some cases, caused shapes in the document header to be duplicated after filling in a document template with empower®.

  • Fixed an issue where, in some cases, the empower® Library could appear empty or remain stuck showing an infinite progress spinner.

  • Fixed an issue which could cause PowerPoint to freeze for a few seconds after closing the PowerPoint window if the empower® Library was open.

  • Fixed a memory exhaustion issue that could occur in the empower® Sync when synchronizing large volumes of data.

  • Fixed an issue that caused custom fields with list values that had been configured correctly in the EAV data scheme to appear empty when editing a profile via the profile management, even though the values were stored correctly.

  • Fixed an issue that caused values linked to default translations in the EAV data scheme to stay empty when a translation was selected while filling in a document template or during the creation of a signature.

  • Fixed an issue which caused translation values to be applied incorrectly if the default language was selected during the creation of a signature.

  • Fixed an issue where, in certain cases, not all profile, company or location data was filled in when creating a document.

  • Fixed an issue which caused certain pictures in .svg format with decimal viewport dimensions to be stretched incorrectly after insertion into the document.

  • Fixed an issue where locking properties of content controls in Document Templates blocked the feature Fill in Document.

  • Fixed an issue which caused the side pane to become unresponsive if clients were running in a Citrix environment.

  • Fixed an issue where companies were displayed in the company management window even if the current user only had read-only access to them.

The user could not edit the company, but the missing permissions would lead to an error while saving changes made in the company management.

  • Fixed an issue where, in some cases, letters would be omitted when typing in PowerPoint.

Update #2 (9.10.334)

Solved Issues

  • Fixed an issue which caused some functionality of empower® for Word and Outlook not to work properly when using it on a terminal server.

Update #3 (9.10.357)

Solved Issues

  • Fixed an issue which, in rare cases, caused the creation of a company to fail, resulting in corrupted data that could only be fixed manually.

  • Fixed an issue which, in some cases, caused the login window for integration authentication to open in the background, preventing users from searching the integration for no visible reason.

  • Fixed an issue where the File Size Inspector was unable to execute PowerPoint’s built-in compression feature, which in some cases caused the application to crash.
