empower® Certificates for Trust Center

Required Permissions: IT Admin

If PowerPoint has been set up to only accept signed COM add-ins, you might receive a notification on opening PowerPoint.

This setting is set via the Microsoft Office Trust Center.

The notification says that empower® does not comply with this requirement.

To avoid this notification and to make PowerPoint accept empower® as a signed COM add-in, certificates need to be provided manually.

The certificates can either be installed manually or rolled out as GPO (GroupPolicyObject).

After providing the certificates, you can use empower® in PowerPoint as usual. The notification will not appear anymore.

Important

The manual installation or roll-out of the certificates is only required if your company has enabled the setting in the Microsoft Office Trust Center.

Check Settings

To check your Trust Center settings, follow the following steps:

  1. In PowerPoint, choose the tab File.

  2. Navigate to the section Options.

    A dialog box opens.

  3. Choose the section Trust Center.

  4. Here, click on the button Trust Center Settings.

    A dialog box opens.

  5. Choose the section Add-ins.

  6. Check if the setting Require Applications Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher has been enabled.

If this setting is enabled, the certificates are required.

Note

If your setup requires these certificates, contact empower® Support.
