Application Server Requirements

The application server for empower® must fulfill certain requirements.

The general requirements are the following:

  • SQL Server 2019 or higher

  • .NET version requirements:

    • Versions < 9.0: .NET Core 2.1

    • Versions 9.0 - 9.5: .NET 6

    • Versions >= 9.7: .NET 8

  • .NET Framework 4.6.2 or higher to execute the installer

  • Windows 10 client version 1607+ or higher

  • Windows Server 2012 or higher

Note

empower always supports all versions that are officially supported by Microsoft.

The following table provides an overview of the minimum requirements for CPU (Central Processing Unit) and RAM (Random Access Memory) for a specific number of users:

Note

For all use cases, SSDs (Solid State Drives) or fast RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) are recommended.

The hard drive size should be calculated from the estimated size of the PowerPoint content + 50GB for Windows.

Note

The minimum requirements are based on the assumption that 90 percent of users are content consumers, while 10 percent share content.

The hardware recommendations refer to the application server running the services. The SQL database only needs to meet the requirements defined by Microsoft and additionally depends on the number of users and the expected load behavior.

Note

The information regarding the application server is only relevant if empower® is not used as a SaaS solution.
