Replace your Certificate

Hosting Option: Corporate Cloud

Required Permissions: IT Admin

If your certificate is about to expire or maybe already expired, you need to replace your certificate with a new one.

To replace your certificate, you can use the empower® Backend Installer.

Note

For further information regarding the empower® Backend Installer, see Install the empower® Backend (Version >= 9.7).

To do so, follow the following steps:

  1. Open the empower® Backend Installer.

To do so, double-click on the file backendSetup.exe.

As you have already installed the empower® Backend, the installer can only be opened in configure mode.

  2. Click on the option Configure.

  1. Click through the installer until you reach the screen Configure SSL.

  2. Depending on which type of certificate you are currently using, choose the respective option (LetsEncrypt or Company Certificate).

    1. If you want to use a certificate issued by LetsEncrypt (recommended), select the option Use a free certificate issued by LetsEncrypt (Figure 1, “Use LetsEncrypt Certificate”).

Enter the e-mail address that you have used to create the certificate.

    2. If you want to use a certificate issued by your IT department, select the option Use a certificate issued by your IT department (Figure 2, “Use Company Certificate”).

To upload a new certificate, open a new file via the button Browse and then enter the password.

  3. When you have finished, click on the button Next.

  4. Then, follow the installation process until you reach the last screen (Client Configuration Details)
