This article describes the installation process of the empower® Client Software on a macOS system as well as important prerequisites.
The following article provides you with the current system requirements for empower® Slides for macOS:
The empower® macOS installation package consists of two components:
-
.pkg file
-
RemoteServiceConfig.xml
Both files must be stored locally. This is relevant for step 7 in the following instructions.
The file RemoteServiceConfig.xml is the configuration file. It contains information about how empower® connects to your backend. The configuration file is stored by the installer in the following installation path after it has been selected once during the installation process:
/Users/[USERNAME]/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/empower
Note
Alternatively, you can use configuration profiles for the installation.
For further information, see Use Configuration Profiles on macOS Devices.
Note
We provide you with the installation files tailored to your plan. These include the .pkg file and the RemoteServiceConfig.xml. The installation files are not available for download elsewhere.
If you have not selected a plan, contact empower® Support.

The silent installation can be executed via the command-line.
No additional parameters need to be set. empower® is added to the startup via LaunchAgents and runs the next time the user logs in, making it necessary to start empower® manually.
The silent installation can also be carried out without first executing scripts.
Note
Each software distribution works differently.
Therefore, no guidance for specific systems can be given here.
If empower® has not already been installed, your IT admin needs to make sure that users receive the file RemoteServiceConfig.xml before installation.
The silent installation can also be run manually using the following command:
sudo installer -pkg [PATH TO .PKG FILE] -target /Applications
Note
The path placeholder must be replaced with the actual path to the installation package.
