Work with Logos in Templates

Operating System: Windows

Required Permissions: Content Admin, EAV Company Admin

You can make use of the company management and picture placeholders, to dynamically interchange different logos when the document is filled in or a signature created.

The following scaling principle applies, when a logo graphic file is inserted in a predefined picture placeholder:

  • Width quotient – Is determined by dividing the picture width by the picture placeholder width.

  • Height quotient – Is determined by dividing the picture height by the picture placeholder height.

If the width quotient is bigger than or equal to the height quotient, the picture height will be scaled by dividing it by the width quotient, whereas the picture width will be set to the placeholder width.

If the width quotient is smaller than the height quotient, the picture width will be scaled by dividing it by the height quotient, whereas the picture height will be set to the placeholder height.

The attempt is to always insert the image as large as possible into the picture placeholder while the aspect ratio between height and width is retained to avoid distortion.

To use logo graphic files of different sizes for different companies within the same picture placeholder in a document or signature template, follow the following steps:

  1. Reference the largest possible size for a logo when formatting the picture placeholder.

  2. Use whitespace in all graphic files smaller than the defined largest possible size (Figure 1, “Example Picture Placeholder Size and Logos with Whitespace”).

  3. Upload the logo files to the company management.

If a template contains a logo placeholder and the user selects a specific language, empower® uses the following hierarchy to select the best fitting logo:

  1. empower® checks whether a logo is defined for the selected company location and the selected language.

If a logo is defined, empower® inserts it into the placeholder in the document.

    The other steps are skipped.

If no logo is defined, the engine proceeds with step 2.

  2. empower® checks whether a logo is defined for the selected company location and the default language.

    The other steps are skipped.

If no logo is defined, the engine proceeds with step 3.

  3. empower® checks whether a logo is defined for the selected company and the selected language.

If a logo is defined, empower® inserts it into the placeholder in the document.

    The other steps are skipped.

If no logo is defined, the engine proceeds with step 4.

  4. empower® checks whether a logo is defined for the selected company and the default language.

If a logo is defined, empower® inserts it into the placeholder in the document.

If no logo is defined, no logo is inserted.
