Avoid Delays after Installation of empower®

If you experience delays and an increase in load time when using Office applications after empower® has been installed, this can have different reasons.

A loading time of 10-20 seconds indicated by the CPU load in your antivirus software process can indicate such an issue.

Due to the variety in system configurations and different versions of operating systems used, it is not possible to develop and guide concisely for this scenario.

However, if you notice a huge latency while using´ Office applications in your company after the rollout of empower®, you should check your antivirus software settings.

In some cases, your antivirus software may immediately display an additional message during a scan.

This scan process can be controlled using a Group Policy.

This Group Policy called Monitor file and program activity on your computer can be configured under Microsoft Defender Antivirus > Real-time protection.

To prevent performance issues caused by this scan, scan our products and/or solutions beforehand.

Set up Exclusions

To avoid further performance issues caused by your antivirus software, you can set up exclusions in combination with conditions in your antivirus software itself.

Set up exclusions for the program file directories used by empower® and for DLLs signed by empower®.

All DLLs are signed by the empower GmbH.

The program file directories used by empower® are the following, depending on your installer type:

  • per User:

    %LocalAppData%\programs\empower

    %LocalAppData%/empower

  • per Machine:

    %ProgramFiles(x86)%\empower

    %LocalAppData%/empower
